Need silk care advice - faded quality after first wash?

I have some silk underwear that I bought from WinterSilks.com. After their first wash, their quality wasn't as good as they were brand-new. I washed them in Woolite Extra Delicates Care on the delicate cycle in cold water, and as it says on the label, I flat-dried them. Why has their quality faded?
