Need help identifying a bug?

ok so i need help identifying a small dark red black caterpillar like bug (its looks like a caterpillar but seams to have hard shiny skin like a beetle) it has a long barnacle-like shell made of tree bark with a hole in the end and uses a silk like line to secure itself to trees it looks a lot like the tree just has a small twig growing out of it.
