How long will a cake topper last once applied to the cake?

If you are inquiring about an edible image which you lay on a cake. The edible image will dissolve into the icing and the food coloring of the image remains in the icing...giving you your design. This image will last for as long as you keep the cake. I work in a bakery and we have applied those images to cakes and left them in our cake case for as long as 5 days and the image was still fine.
