Can you recycle vending machine capsules?

You know those plastic little capsules that have pencil toppers and stuff inside? Well I've got a whole bunch crowding up my room and I want to know if I can recycle them. I don't want them just laying around in the city dump, not being reused to help the environment. If no one answers, I will just throw them away (hopefully a last resort).
